About.

Tom Groggin campground is set on the banks of the upper Murray River, just off Alpine Way. There’s plenty of room for relaxed camping in open areas, in a lovely valley setting with stunning mountain and riverside backdrops.

Located between Khancoban and Thredbo, its a great stop if you’re touring Kosciuszko National Park and the surrounding high country areas by car. The weather conditions are also generally milder here in the valley than higher areas of Kosciuszko National Park.

Tom Groggin campground makes a popular base camp for horse riders, mountain bikers and bushwalkers tackling the iconic Bicentennial trail. You can also explore the huts of nearby Geehi, and take in the views from Scammells and Olsens lookouts. The year-round activities of Thredbo Alpine Village are only 25 kilometres east along Alpine Way.

The open grasslands in the valley are home to a large population of resident eastern grey kangaroos. Emus, echidnas, brush-tailed possums, lyrebirds, flame robins and crimson rosellas can also be spotted.
